Hayatı

Pat ve Frank Gleeson'un oğlu olarak Dublin'de doğdu.¹ Gleeson kendisini meraklı bir okur olarak tanımlamaktadır. Oyunculuk eğitiminden sonra İrlanda'ya döndü ve kuzey Dublin ilinde 2004 yılında kapanan Catholic Belcamp College ortaokulunda İrlandaca ve İngilizce öğretmeni olarak çalıştı.² Öğretmenlik yaparken aynı zamanda profesyonel ve yarı-profesyonel alanlarda oyunculuk kariyerini de sürdürüyordu, 1991 yılında oyunculuk kariyerine ağırlık verebilmek için öğretmenliği bıraktı. Oyunculuk kariyeri

34 yaşındayken oyunculuk kariyeri başladı. Michael Collins'i canlandırdığı The Treaty TV dizi ile toplum içinde tanındı; 1992 yılında Jacob Ödülü kazandı. Cesur Yürek, I Went Down, Özgürlüğün Bedeli, New York Çeteleri, Soğuk Dağ, 28 Gün Sonra, Truva, Cennetin Krallığı, Lake Placid, Yapay Zeka, Mission: Impossible II ve Köy gibi birçok filmde rol aldı.
